The Escapists: The Walking Dead Announced

Team17 announce The Escapists: The Walking Dead

Team17 have today unveiled that they are developing and publishing The Escapists: The Walking Dead, a new game in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment.

Merging the award-winning, smash-hit, indie game The Escapists with the worldwide phenomenon that is The Walking Dead, Team17 have taken the very best of both worlds and are now providing players with the opportunity to play Rick Grimes as he takes on hordes of zombies let loose upon the world.

In this unique game, recreated entirely in the charming 8-bit pixel art style of The Escapists, Rick is in charge of a band of survivors featuring many of the original comic book cast. He must secure the safety of the group by seeking out a safe escape route from each area, and manage several dangerous tasks to keep as many of the group alive as possible. The game faithfully matches the timeline of the comics and so as the player makes progress in the game they play through locations that mirror the progress of the band of the survivors taken from the award-winning comic's epic story.

Daniel Murray, President at Skybound Entertainment said, “Team17 presented a creative plan to blend The Walking Dead into The Escapists and our response was simple. When do we get started? The Escapists is a charming example of a single creator’s vision come to life. We are excited to offer fans of The Walking Dead something different and The Escapists: The Walking Dead is just that. A playful interpretation that we believe fans of great games in general will love.”

Debbie Bestwick, Team17’s Managing Director added, “With well over 600,000 units sold, the award-winning The Escapists is one of the hit indie titles of 2015. Masterminding your escape from prison is hard enough but how can we make it harder? Zombies. Remember poor Rick Grimes trying to escape hospital, organise life at a farm or hold up in an abandoned prison? A little bit of awesome 8-bit pixel love later and BOOM! It is great to partner with Skybound and The Walking Dead and we are really excited to ‘escapify’ the amazing, rich and sinister world of Robert Kirkman.”

Team17 will be globally debuting the game at the Walker Stalker Fan Fest in Petco Park, San Diego, California during the 10th and 11th July. Attendees, roamers and fans will be able to get exclusive first hands-on playable with Rick Grimes in the Harrison Memorial Hospital level.

The Escapists: The Walking Dead is scheduled for a 2015 release on Xbox One and PC.

Imperative Entertainment released the first trailer for Heroes Reborn: Gemini (console/PC/Mac) and Heroes Reborn: Enigma (smartphone/tablet) -- two games connected with the upcoming "Heroes Reborn" TV series. The trailer gives a glimpse into the dark world of the "HEROES" universe as well as the incredible powers fans and players can expect to wield in the game.

Expanding on the television story arc of "Heroes Reborn," Heroes Reborn: Gemini is a next-generation first-person adventure PC/console game that brings players into the dangerous world of Cassandra, a young woman who is determined to solve the mysteries of her past while discovering her new powers. The first-person action-puzzle mobile game, Heroes Reborn: Enigma, follows Dahlia, an evolved human with incredible powers, as she attempts to escape captivity at a secret government facility called The Quarry.

Heroes Reborn: Gemini and Heroes Reborn: Enigma feature two different stories from "Heroes" creator and "Heroes Reborn" Executive Producer Tim Kring. Today, we’re excited to announce the return of Nuna and Fox in a project we’ve been working on for the past few months — Never Alone: Foxtales, the first expansion to the original Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna), and it’s coming July 28 to PS4, Xbox One and Steam.

If you followed the development of Never Alone, you know that we immersed ourselves in hundreds of Alaska Native stories before deciding to base the original game on the tale of Kunuuksaayuka. Foxtales draws from another of these amazing stories, casting Nuna and Fox in a new adventure inspired by the tale of the “Two Coastal Brothers.”

Spring has come to the Arctic as Nuna and Fox climb aboard their umiaq (a sealskin canoe) and take to the waters of the coasts, rivers and lakes of Northwest Alaska. They’ll travel across open seas, swim through the ruins of a sunken village and paddle up the Noatak River on a mission to rescue a new friend.

You’ll need all your wits and the skills of both companions to survive the dangers of the swirling currents, fierce creatures and hidden underwater hazards of the Alaska coast. Only by working together can Nuna and Fox save their friend and defeat an unexpected foe.

Foxtales features three all new levels full of environments to explore, puzzles to solve and enemies to face. Once again developed in partnership with the Alaska Native community, Foxtales contains five new unlockable Cultural Insight videos that include the family of Willie Panik Goodwin, Sr., whose telling of “The Two Coastal Brothers” inspired the game.

Never Alone: Foxtales will be available as downloadable content for the Xbox One, PS4 and Steam (PC and Mac) editions of the game on July 28, 2015.
