Devolver Digital and Sloclap Detail Absolver Online Features and Post Release Update Plans
The clenched fists at Sloclap and drunken boxers of Devolver Digital have detailed the online multiplayer features in their forthcoming melee combat game Absolver with the new ‘Friends & Foes’ video feature. The development team has also announced the first post-release content in a set of free updates scheduled to happen over the next six months including new gameplay modes, new features, and new moves to expand players’ customizable Combat Deck.
The core of Absolver’s gameplay is its deep fighting mechanics and online combat. Prospects will enter the plains of Adal alone and encounter both AI-controlled opponents and live players through Absolver’s shared online experience structure. Players will roam the world as their own independent ‘server’ as the game seamlessly introduces other Prospects into their game experience.
Once players encounter one another they will have a choice to engage in friendly sparring, more aggressive PvP combat, or cooperative PvE play with up to three players at once. Through online cooperative play each Prospect will be able to learn new moves from one another, progress on their path to Absolution, and gain experience points that can be spent on one of six attributes to improve their skills.
Absolver also features unique fighting school mechanic where more advanced players can create their own school of combat that other players may join. The school creator effectively becomes a mentor to these students and this relationship allows for the mentor’s students to use their Combat Deck and the more robust catalog of more advanced moves that comes with it.
Sloclap has announced the first in many free content updates to the game to continue to expand the world of Absolver and cater to the wishes of the community. Through extensive testing and a closed beta, early players have requested features like 3 versus 3 mode, ranked matches, and a spectator mode to watch the action and jump in when it is your turn to battle. These three features will be some of the first implemented in a series of free content updates alongside new Combat Styles and moves for players’ Combat Decks.
Absolver fights its way onto PC and PlayStation 4 on August 29. For more information on Absolver visit absolvergame.com and follow @Absolver on Twitter.

Here’s a brief overview of the game, via Frontier Developments:
Based on Universal Pictures’ iconic film franchise and created in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, the game expands on the official Jurassic World mythology and puts players in charge of cinema’s greatest tourist destination – where they will have the opportunity to create and manage their own Jurassic World. Launching in summer 2018, Jurassic World Evolution will be coming to PC, the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system.
“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World,” said Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts. “We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”
Jurassic World Evolution evolves players’ relationship with the Jurassic World film franchise, placing them in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. N.E.R.O. developer Storm in a Teacup has announced Close to the Sun, a story-driven horror game made in Unreal Engine 4 for PC and other platforms to be announced due out in in 2018.
Here’s an overview of the game, via Storm in a Teacup:
Close to the Sun is a story-driven horror game that takes place at the turn of the 20th century on a mysterious ship complex created by Nikola Tesla for the sake of science. In this alternative version of history, his scientific breakthroughs have already had a major impact on the world.
You’re Rose, a young journalist looking for your sister and, as you approach this enormous and glorious complex for the first time, you quickly realize that something there has gone horribly wrong…
“This project is crucial for Storm in a Teacup,” said studio founder and creative director Carlo Ivo Alimo Bianchi. “After the first three games, we came back bigger and stronger than ever. We want to tell you stories, and this time we’re going to tell you about a man who dared to defy the Sun, between horror and survival. As always, we aim for a peculiar art style which is STC’s trademark. In building the ship, we’ve been inspired by art deco, art nouveau and steampunk, since visuals for us is as important as the experience itself. Our challenges vary throughout the game but are all built around the general themes of survival and progress towards a promised salvation. Expressed more simply, our challenges generally come down to: there are many ways to die, but only one way to escape.”
