PlayStation Plus free games for August in the US & Europe announced
North America - PS Plus: Preview August’s Free Game Lineup
This month our PlayStation Plus members will receive two games free the day they release on PlayStation Store - Road Not Taken on PS4 and Metrico on PS Vita. In addition to these titles, members will receive other popular games like FEZ on PS4, Crysis 3 and Proteus on PS3 and Dragon’s Crown on PS Vita.
PS4 owners can enjoy two puzzle games with very different mechanics. First up, there’s Road Not Taken, where you’ll aim to strategically maneuver through a forest as efficiently as possible with only a limited amount of stamina, all while saving lost children. Then you can don a fancy hat in FEZ, as you jump around pixelated 2D levels housed in a 3D world. Shift your view of the landscape with the hit of a button and journey to find the pieces of a Hexahedron.
On PlayStation 3, Crysis 3 offers the sandbox first-person shooter world that made the franchise famous and there’s a new toy to play with – the Predator Bow. If you enjoy multiplayer, there’s a new mode here called Hunter where two players are pitted against a team of CELL agents with the goal of slowly turning all of them into fellow Hunters. Then, there’s the soothing experience of Proteus, where you’ll explore procedurally generated islands with a dynamic soundtrack.
Finally, PlayStation Vita owners will get their hands on the highly-anticipated puzzle-platformer Metrico and critically-acclaimed action RPG Dragon’s Crown. Traverse a world filled with infographics in Metrico, but don’t be fooled by the clean presentation – proceeding through these charts isn’t as straightforward as it might seem. Invite up to three friends to join you in the dungeons of Dragon’s Crown, and thanks to Cross-Play you can even go adventuring with your buddies who have PS3s.
All of these games will be free for Plus members starting August 5th. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video above.

Europe - New on PS Plus in August: Road Not Taken, Crysis 3, FEZ, more
Hi everyone! Summer is in full swing up in the northern hemisphere but that doesn’t mean that you need to abandon your consoles in search of the sunshine! As set out below, we have a great selection of goodies lined up for August.
New for PlayStation 4
First up this month comes a beautifully crafted new title from the extremely talented team at Spry Fox. Road Not Taken is a rogue-like puzzle adventure about surviving life’s surprises. You play as a ranger adventuring through a vast, unforgiving forest in the aftermath of a brutal winter storm, rescuing children who have lost their way.
Next up, Polytron‘s highly acclaimed FEZ – a 2D platform puzzle game set in a 3D world where you play as Gomez. When the existence of a mysterious third dimension is revealed to him, Gomez is sent out on a journey that will take him to the very end of time and space. Unearth the mysteries of the past and discover the truth about reality and perception.
New for PlayStation 3
First up on PS3 this month we welcome future-tech FPS sequel Crysis 3. Return to the fight as Prophet, the Nanosuit soldier on a quest to rid the world of the invading Ceph and eliminate the corrupted CELL Corporation.
Also on PS3 in August, eccentric, experimental exploration adventure Proteus from Curve Studios, in which you find yourself on a mysterious island. It’s weird, it’s wonderful and it’s Cross Buy on PS Vita too.
New for PS Vita
I’m very excited to announce that PS Plus is bringing you a brand new PS Vita exclusive this August in the form of atmospheric puzzle adventure Metrico. The game is based around the beauty of infographics in a world built around bar, line and pie charts where the environment changes instantly with your input. You’ll have to analyse and experiment with your surroundings, while your reflexes, intuition and smarts are all being put to the test.
Your final offering for this month is LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7. Based on the last three Harry Potter books, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 takes players through Harry Potter’s heroic adventures in the Muggle and wizarding worlds. From Privet Drive in Little Whinging to Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and Hogwarts – plus new locations including Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, and Godric’s Hollow – you will encounter new faces, new challenges and new magic, preparing you for the ultimate face-off against Lord Voldemort!
