First Look at Cliff Bleszinski's Next Game ~ Project BlueStreak



   


First Teaser Footage Revealed At PAX East

As you may have heard, at our PAX East panel we surprised the audience with the very first footage of the game: a special in-engine look at Project BlueStreak. It was short, but certainly sweet, as it was intended to be a special treat for those who braved the freezing temperatures to be with us at PAX. Luckily, you can now view the source Pre-Alpha footage right now from the comfort of your cozy, warm home!
Plus, as a part of this, we announced that we’re developing Project BlueStreak using Unreal Engine 4 technology.

Regarding the first teaser footage, for us we wanted this to be a special moment for all of you, the fans, at one of our favorite conventions. We didn’t want to lead with this on a traditional press outlet, nor did we not just want to post it to our YouTube channel first. We wanted to wait for an opportunity to share our enthusiasm for what we’re doing with real people... and it was great. We had a FULL HOUSE (unfortunately we had to turn people away), and people laughed and cried throughout (well, a baby did end up crying halfway through). Everyone who was able to make the panel, thank you so much for joining us. Everyone else, we’ve got more in store for you soon.

As a part of this special event, we also announced that we’re using Unreal Engine 4 to power our game... and that’s very exciting for us to finally share that news. What that means is we’re going to be able to talk about what we’re creating in-engine in real-time with you all. In the future, we’re going to bring you behind-the-scenes insight on how we created the video, our impressions of working with Unreal Engine 4, what it took to bring the first-ever footage to life and more.

《战争机器》创作者 Bleszinski 新作《极速闪光》首度曝光影片

  《战争机器》创作者、Epic Games 前任设计总监 Cliff Bleszinski 新作、代号名为《极速闪光(暂译,BlueStreak)》终于在 PAX East 游戏展上首度公开了宣传影片,而今日研发团队也透过官方 Youtube 频道向全球公开这个宣传影片。

  《极速闪光》宣传影片中展示了 Pre-Alpha 版本的游戏画面,强调可能与最终版本内容不同,游戏将是免费制在线第一人称射击游戏,以未来的亚洲世界为背景,但在这个宣传影片中,并没有展示实际的游戏玩法。

  Cliff Bleszinski 在 PSX East 游戏展的座谈会上说明,《极速闪光》是采用 Epic Games 的 Unreal Engine 4 来开发。游戏是以科幻世界为背景设定,将与 NEXON 合作来发行。

  游戏尚未公开详细玩法与测试时程。

竞争残酷难以为继 《破法者》开发商宣告解散

  2014年,《战争机器》之父 Cliff Bleszinski 建立了 Boss Key Productions,这家目标为创造全新的、令人惊叹的体验的工作室在这四年间为我们带来了《破法者》《激进高地》等作品,但都没有取得太好的成绩。就在这样的情况下,工作室的创始人 Cliff Bleszinski 在推特上宣布,Boss Key 已经解散。

  “从今天开始, Boss Key 已不复存在,” Bleszinski 在推特的声明中回顾了工作室的历程,他将工作室开发的《破法者》称作“伟大但并没有得到欢迎的游戏”,而《激进高地》则作为工作室的“最后一次尝试”收到了玩家的好评,但遗憾的是,它来得太晚了。

    Bleszinski 表示,在关闭工作室之后,他将从游戏行业抽身而出,休息一段时间来反思工作室在过去几年的发展,并处理个人和家庭事务。同时他还确认,尽管工作室关闭,但他们的最新作品《激进高地》的服务器还会“继续维持一段时间”。



Cliff Bleszinski's Statement

As of today, Boss Key Productions is effectively no more.

Four years ago I set out to make a world class video game studio and I hired some of the best talent in the video game industry. They worked tirelessly to produce quality products and, while we had our ups and downs, I’d like to think we had fun doing it. LawBreakers was a great game that unfortunately failed to gain traction, and, in a last ditch attempt we scrambled to do our take on the huge battle royale genre with Radical Heights, which was well received, however, it was too little too late.

As for myself, I’m going to take some time off and reflect. I need to focus on myself and family as well as my Aussie, Teddy, who is slowly fading from us. Video games will forever be a part of who I am and I hope to make something new again someday, however, I need to withdraw and take this time.

To those of you who have supported myself and the studio these last four years, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart and everyone who came to work for me.

Please note that the servers for Radical Heights will remain up for the near future.

Boss Key's New Game is Radical Heights, a F2P Battle Royale Title
《激进高地(Radical Heights)》今日免费登陆Steam


  自《破法者(LawBreakers)》的失利之后,游戏开发商Boss Key Productions开始了“大逃杀”类型游戏的尝试,今日这家游戏厂商在Steam平台推出了一款免费游戏《激进高地(Radical Heights)》,目前这款游戏已开启抢先体验,并自带官方简体中文界面。

  据介绍,《激进高地》是一款拥有80年代美学的大逃杀类型射击游戏,玩家在游戏中可以参与高风险的枪战,掠夺武器、工具、饰品和现金,并想方设法生存到最后。

  创意总监Zach Lowery表示:“《激进高地》是整个团队耗费5个月热情所创作出来的项目,我们自己也是大逃杀游戏的忠实粉丝,并且对80年代美学情有独钟。因此我们希望能够制作一款属于自己的大逃杀类型游戏,并创造一个设定在2023年的未来世界。”

  同时,官方今日还为《激进高地》公布了一段实机演示和一批游戏截图.

  Boss Key工作室日前发表声明,表示《不法之徒》的市场表现低于预期,因此开发小组决定将该游戏转为免费运营机制,并开始投入下一个项目。

  “《不法之徒》没能找到足够多的玩家群体产生足以自我维持的利润,没能实现最初的计划和期待。因此这款游戏将会转为免费机制运营,而Boss Key工作室也将开启一个全新的‘充满热情的项目’。”

  “我们的团队在过去的三年半中一直努力开发《不法之徒》,我们的工作室决心要让这款游戏获得它应有的重生机会。虽然转变为免费制看上去是最简单的方式,但这个决定在发行计划和资源管理层面非常重要。”

  “我们将继续支持《不法之徒》维持现在的状态,但我们也需要蒋经理集中在其他项目上,开发各种新鲜的创意。”

  《不法之徒》是《战争机器》之父Cliff Bleszinski自立门户以后的首秀,可惜发售以后没能获得成功。希望他们在新的项目中能够吸取教训,为我们带来新的惊喜。



April 2018 Studio Statement

LawBreakers Community,

It has been a while since we said anything about LawBreakers. With that, the past four months at Boss Key Productions has been especially trying, as we pride ourselves at being communicative and transparent.

So here is the very real truth, which may not come as a surprise.

The fact is LawBreakers failed to find enough of an audience to generate the funds necessary to keep it sustained in the manner we had originally planned for and anticipated. And while a pivot to free-to-play may seem like easiest change to make, a change of this magnitude takes publishing planning and resources to do it.

The team here has worked hard on this game over the past three and a half years and our studio is determined to give this game the second life it deserves. However, between now and then, we cannot sit idle. We will continue to support the game in its current state, but we also need to focus on other projects with fresh creative leaders. We have been working on something new and we can’t wait to share more about it! It’s a passion project that we’re in complete control of.
