CryEngine (usually styled as CryENGINE) is a game engine used for the first-person shooter computer game Far Cry. It was originally developed by Crytek as a technology demo for Nvidia and, when the company saw its potential, it was turned into a game.
When video cards with support for 3.0 pixel and vertex shaders were released, Crytek released version 1.2 of the engine which used some of the capabilities for better graphics.
Later the company developed CryEngine version 1.3, which added support for HDR lighting.
The engine has been licensed to NCsoft for their MMORPG, Aion: Tower of Eternity.
On March 30, 2006, Ubisoft acquired all intellectual property rights to the Far Cry franchise and a perpetual license to use the Far Cry edition of CryENGINE.

该引擎已经被授权给NCsoft公司,用于开发MMORPG《永恒之塔》。

~交互式动态音乐系统:音乐可以由游戏的特定事件触发,提供CD品质的5.1环绕立体声播放。

Crytek Reveals New CryEngine Royalty-Based User Model, Including Full Access to Editor Source Code

Crytek has announced a new 5% royalty-based model for CryEngine, alongside a range of improvements, enhancements, new learning offerings, and full access to the editor source code. Developers around the world now have complete, uninhibited, and easy access to the power of CryEngine, and the opportunity to have their expertise with the engine recognized.

Creators who release games using CryEngine V will find development faster and easier than ever before and incur costs only after $5,000 is raised in revenue. An enterprise tier will also be introduced for custom support packages and royalty buyouts. Developers currently developing on CryEngine 5.0-5.4 can apply for a royalty exemption if they wish to stay on the current version and not take advantage of access to the editor source code. Following the release of CryEngine 5.5, featuring over 260 improvements, fixes, and enhancements, an exciting new addition to the CryEngine ecosystem is the arrival of a new CryEngine Certification Program. The program will consist of three verticals representing core development disciplines. A Technical Artist Certification will recognize proficiency in the digital visual arts, a Designer Certification rewards expertise in using the editor, and the Programmer Certification tests core development knowledge on both the engine and editor codebases. Alongside the CryEngine Certification Program, Crytek has introduced a new documentation structure and walkthroughs to onboard users to CryEngine even faster than ever.

CryEngine’s Product Manager, Collin Bishop, said, “CryEngine 5.5 represents our focus on usability and onboarding with the editor toolset and engine codebase. The arrival of the CryEngine Certification Program, revamped documentation, and new editor source code allows for developers worldwide to work uninhibited with the CryEngine toolset, within a model that provides a price point for all sizes of teams. We have also created a new onboarding project named Flappy Boid that quickly teaches developers how to create a full game in CryEngine from scratch, with no prior engine knowledge, as part of our drive to open up the power of CryEngine to all.”
Additionally, CryEngine 5.5 provides integrations for both the Steam and PSN networks, alongside a new cURL integration for HTTPS.

CryEngine 5.5 highlights

• Getting Started Course: Our new beginner’s course shows users with no experience in game development how to create a full game in CryEngine in just 10 chapters.

• SVOGI Improvements: SVOGI can now run on consoles. We have enabled developers to cache SVOGI on the disk and calculate GI completely offline. This means users can make the most realistic scenes yet.

• Terrain System Improvements: New features and enhancements vastly improve the terrain system, including the ability to weight and blend multiple materials, more detailed height maps, and more.

• Updated Entity Components: New and legacy components are integrated in the new entity system, including rain and water ripple entities. A new VR Camera and interaction component makes getting up and running with VR even easier.

• C# Upgrades: We have expanded how users can create C# assets directly inside the Asset Browser, with Visual Studio instances, debugging through the IDE, and more.

• Game Platform Plugins: A brand-new Game Platform plugin allows for easy access to common distribution platforms and data transfer protocols. This includes Steamworks and PSN API functions like matchmaking, leaderboards, and achievements.

Crytek's Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age renamed Hunt: Showdown
Crytek 新作《猎杀:对决(Hunt: Showdown)》公布


  《暗黑血统》制作人组成的团队之前加盟了Crytek美国,打造了第三人称合作射击游戏《恶灵猎杀》(Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age ),多次跳票仍未发行。但 Crytek 今天正式宣布本作将以重启的方式登场,改名为《猎杀:对决》(Hunt: Showdown),预计同样采用免费发行模式。

  这部第三人称射击游戏仍然主打联机合作,游戏设定非常像“L4D”,4位不同角色挑战一大波僵尸,怪物。通过创新的自动生成系统,随机产生的环境增强游戏的可玩性。通过预告片可以看出,重启版加入了《黎明杀机》风格的环境探索,以及2v2的PvP模式,至于是否会加入其他游戏元素尚不清楚。

  本作采用新版CE引擎制作,游戏免费并会加入微交易,游戏平台为Xbox One,PS4,PC。

Crytek shuts down five studios
开发商Crytek宣布重大重组 关闭旗下5家工作室!

  在之前被频繁曝出公司员工工资拖欠问题后,《孤岛危机》系列开发商Crytek终于在近日打破沉默,宣布公布将进行大规模调整重组。

  在相关的新闻稿中,Crytek表示其将关闭旗下位于全球各地的5家工作室(其中包含了位于匈牙利首都布达佩斯、保加利亚首都索非亚、土耳其首都伊斯坦布尔、韩国首都首尔以及中国上海的这5家分支机构),只保留公司位于德国法兰克福的总部和Kiev studio这家工作室。

  在其中Crytek提到:“公司将在其总部和Kiev studios集中力量继续开发旗下的重要IP。所有其他的开发工作室将不再保留在Crytek之中。相关的管理措施也已经实施,保障相关的工作、确保公司平稳的转移和稳定的未来。”

  同时公司联合创始人总经理Avni Yerli也提到,这些改变也是为了让公司可以“瘦身”从而去集中开发核心业务,在经过这样的变动之后,公司运营也将变得更加灵活、有效。


  最后据外媒Eurogamer的报道,之前传出的员工工资拖欠问题现在已经基本得到解决,员工的十一月工资也将在本周发放。当然,我们也期望在经过这样重大的调整重组之后,Crytek能浴火重生,在接下来给我们带来优秀的游戏作品,也希望在此事件中失业的开发者,可以尽快找到合适工作。



Crytek Outlines Future Plans and Focuses on Return to Core Competencies

Crytek today outlined a series of changes to its future business plans that will see the company refocus on its core strengths of developing innovative games and game-development technology.

As part of the changes, Crytek will concentrate on development in its Frankfurt and Kiev studios and continue to develop and work on premium IPs. CryEngine will remain a core pillar of Crytek’s overall strategy, with enterprise licensees and indie developers alike continuing to be served by regular engine updates. All other development studios (Crytek Black Sea in Sofia, Bulgaria - Crytek Budapest in Budapest, Hungary - Crytek Istanbul in Istanbul, Turkey - Crytek Seoul in Seoul, South Korea - Crytek Shanghai in Shanghai, China) will not remain within Crytek and management has put plans into action to secure jobs and to ensure a smooth transition and stable future.

Crytek Co-Founder and Managing Director, Avni Yerli, said: “Undergoing such transitions is far from easy, and we’d like to sincerely thank each and every staff member – past and present – for their hard work and commitment to Crytek. These changes are part of the essential steps we are taking to ensure Crytek is a healthy and sustainable business moving forward that can continue to attract and nurture our industry’s top talent. The reasons for this have been communicated internally along the way.   研发知名游戏引擎 CryEngine 的游戏厂商 Crytek 今日在 2016 游戏开发者大会(GDC 2016)中,曝光采用 CryEngine 开发、集结多家游戏厂商游戏画面的宣传影片,藉此展示 CryEngine 的能力与多功能性。

  Crytek 的 GDC 2016 宣传影片中,集结了 12 款采用 CryEngine 开发的作品,包括《魔物猎人 Online》、《文明帝国 Online》、《烽火家园:革命》等。



Crytek Unveils All-New CryEngine V and Community-Centered “Pay What You Want” Model

As the 2016 Game Developers Conference gets underway, Crytek has announced the arrival of CryEngine V – the most accessible, powerful, and feature-filled version of their all-in-one development solution to date.

CryEngine V launches today with a “Pay What You Want” business model, offering developers everywhere total access to the engine’s feature-set and full engine source code for a fee of their choosing, and with no obligation to pay royalties or additional service charges. Users who decide to make a contribution for utilizing CryEngine V can allocate up to 70% of the sum to Crytek’s new Indie Development Fund – a grant program that will see Crytek directly supporting promising indie projects around the world.

The latest evolution of CryEngine also introduces CryEngine Marketplace. The Marketplace will enable developers to access individual assets from Crytek’s own library, as well as thousands of materials, sounds, and 3D objects created by the CryEngine community and other trusted vendors.

Crytek’s Founder, CEO & President, Cevat Yerli, said: “CryEngine V represents our commitment to not only offering developers today’s most advanced engine technology, but also to making it as accessible as possible. The arrival of CryEngine Marketplace, the revamped engine UI, and new support channels will make it easier than ever to tap into the power of CryEngine – at a price that feels comfortable for each and every individual. In addition, CryEngine V brings expanded support for today’s leading Virtual Reality hardware. Crytek’s engine will now equip users to create stand-out VR experiences for PlayStation VR, OSVR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

CryEngine V also introduces

• C# Enabled: A new API that allows developers who know C# to start scripting in CryEngine V right away.
• Reworked Low Overhead Renderer: Significantly increases the performance of today’s hardware in graphically intensive applications.
• DirectX 12 support: Utilize the latest branch of DirectX to take greater control of hardware resources.
• Advanced Volumetric Cloud System: Optimized for VR to give clouds full 3D spatial rendering for higher quality with minimal performance hit.
• New particle system: Create stunning real-time fluid effects, handled almost entirely on the GPU.
• A new launcher and UI: Navigate CryEngine more intuitively thanks to a streamlined UI which includes realigned features and new icon groupings.
• FMOD Studio support: Allowing greater flexibility in audio middleware selection.
• CryEngine Answers: A dedicated channel where the CryEngine community can share questions and answers.
