First-person rogue-lite adventure City of Brass will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 4, developer Uppercut Games announced.
City of Brass is currently available for PC via Steam Early Access for $24.99.
Here is an overview of the game, via Uppercut Games:
Set in a mythological metropolis undone by its love of gold, City of Brass follows a cunning thief on a heist to obtain fabled treasure hidden in the heart of the opulent ruins. Armed with a bullwhip and blade, players will lash-and-slash their way through the legions of damned souls that haunt this legendary labyrinth while pilfering relics and other riches contained within its walls.
The rhythmic interplay between these tools gives the experience a fluid feeling as melee bleeds into movement. The versatile whip is used not only to disarm, trip, and stun enemies but allows players to swing to safety or obtain objects that otherwise would be out of reach. The whip also has the ability to turn City of Brass’ dangerous environment against itself. Players can wield it to manipulate hazards from a safe distance and spring deadly traps on unsuspecting enemies.
With shifting streets that ensure no two playthroughs are ever the same, players will need to be tenacious and make good use of their knowledge from past runs to press further into the stronghold if they want to claim the city’s ultimate prize and perhaps even reverse the curse.
To ensure the challenge is tailored to all players, City of Brass features a Blessings & Burdens system, which can make the experience much easier or do quite the opposite. These optional modifiers can tweak everything from player health and damage output to item costs, ensuring City of Brass is tuned everyone’s needs and desires. This system also extends to Mixer, Microsoft’s next generation streaming service, where viewers can interact with live-streamers by griefing them with additional enemy spawns or helping out with extra gold or healing items.

The Long Dark Season One: Wintermute Physical Edition Coming in September
The Long Dark Coming to Retail Through New Skybound Partnership
Today we’re excited to announce a new partnership! We’re working with Skybound Games, the new “indie”-focused publishing label of Skybound Entertainment (also known as the creators of The Walking Dead) to bring The Long Dark to retail stores in September 2018.
This means that in September, people around the world will be able to find disc-based copies of The Long Dark for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on store shelves! Mind-boggling.
We’re excited to be working closely with Skybound on this, not just because this will bring a whole new retail audience to The Long Dark, but also because Skybound’s “creator first” culture meshes so well with our own. They’ve been great partners so far, coming at this relationship firstly as fans of the game, and we’re both energized by the opportunity to bring The Long Dark to fans of The Walking Dead, and vice versa.
A few of us from Hinterland were recently down at Skybound’s offices in LA and had the opportunity to meet with the heads of their various departments — comics, online editorial, publishing, and of course, games! It was fantastic to walk through their office and see so many artifacts of their various creations. It really inspired me and reminded me of all the ways in which I’d like to extend The Long Dark, and future Hinterland creations, outside the medium of video games. That way, we can tell more stories, and help you tell yours, across a wide spectrum of creations be they games, novels, comic books, film, television, you name it!
To be 100% clear — the relationship with Skybound doesn’t change anything about how we’re making The Long Dark. Hinterland is still 100% independent and we’re also our own publisher on all digital platforms — so think of this partnership as a way to amplify what we’re doing, bring our game to a broader audience, and also give us an opportunity to learn from one of the best IP creators in the business.
